Well here it is, the “He said” version of our story.
Well for me it all started in first year at Durham College. We were both enrolled in the same course but we only had a few classes together so it wasn’t until a little later in the school year that Genevieve caught my attention.
I remember we were out near the front entrance when I heard this sweet little voice explaining to someone about her broken G String. This immediately caught my attention, being a Guitar enthusiast and all. So I turned around and there she was, so beautiful with her big bright eyes, skin shining in the morning sun, her hair up in little mini buns and she had the cutest smile. I immediately entered the conversation and attempted to make myself noticed.
I wasn’t sure how successful I was in getting noticed, so the next day before Sociology lecture I asked her aloud from across the room “Hows your G string?”. That will do the trick I thought. Apparently her current boyfriend noticed me as-well. Oh well.
From there I proceeded to attempt my numerous well crafted moves of woo, to no avail. In one particular case I was greeted with the response
“You’re really cocky aren’t you?” she said.
“I’m not conceited,” I said ” I’m convinced”.
another exchange:
Genevieve : “I would never date a guy like you.”
Adam: “We’ll see.”
Such romantic conversations like this were frequent between us. Yet she still was with what’s his name. Then came the breakthrough. Immediately after meeting her “Boyfriend” and promptly and accurately labeling him insufficient in character, looks, charm, and social acceptance to be her mate. I called her on her cell phone as I walked away from the “Odd Couple” and let her know he was a geek. Yes it was a little mean but it was necessary. Later that night Genevieve called me long distance to ask me about homework
sure, sure.
After a few more attempts (I even brought her a new G-String), soon we were on summer break from school and I wouldn’t see Genevieve until the following school year. When we returned I was delighted to find Genevieve newly single and more beautiful then ever. So with some more well crafted moves and a lunch date to East Side Marios, I was in.
After a couple of weeks of dates and movies and lunches on November 13th 2001 we were in her basement when I declared Genevieve my girlfriend. She agreed…
…and the rest is History!

What a story. And romantic at that. I do have to agree with you about what’s his name though. I remember Sarena used to shy away from him as did a few others. Not easy to talk to at all. Hey, but thats history.
Now Adam, you’re in the picture, front row and centre. And Gen’s not the only one who likes you. Speaking for my family, we’re all very fond of you. Sarena is VERY comfortable with you. And can’t get over the fact that you remember she loves cheese. Kabir likes and respects you a lot; Of course Simi’s the quiet one but I know from many conversations that she likes you too. Sarena says congratulations and wishes you good luck.
We’re looking forward to having you in the family Adam. You know how weird and crazy it can get sometimes; But its also a lot of fun. I hope once you’re settled we can have you both over for dinner and we can spend some quality time together.
So, good luck on your big day.
